Glories of Panchagavya

Hare Krsna!

Glories of panchagavya (five products from cows viz. Milk, curd, ghee (clarified butter), urine and dung).

  • Gavyam pavitram cha rasayanam cha                                                                   pathyam cha hrdyam bala-buddhidam syat                                                           Ayur pradam rakta vikarahari                                                                     tridosha-hrdaroga-vishapaham syat

It means this pancha gavya is supremely pure, elixir, pleasing to heart and giver of strength and intelligence. It is giver  of life, remover of all blood diseases and remover of 3 doshas (kapha, vata, pitta). It also removes heart diseases and works against poisons. (more…)

Love of Cows (go – prema)

Hare Krsna!

What love of cows means – Love of cows means even love for go rasa i.e. cow products. I would prefer to call cow products (urine, dung, milk, etc) as blessing rather than products. In modern day we all have some respect and love for cows. But we drink buffalo milk. We cannot love cows and not love her blessings. These cow blessings (products) are called gavya.  Gavya means milk, curd, butter (after churning), dung and urine. Without loving these blessings (products) of cows our love of cows is only half or incomplete. (more…)

Cows in Krishna Lila

Hare Krsna!

Srimad Bhagawatam begins with glorifying the supreme lord Krsna. But Sri Krsna in his topmost abode of goloka is absorbed in worship of cows. His abode is centered and named around cows. Krsna lila cannot be separated from love of cows ( go prema).

As soon as Krsna appeared on earth in the jail, his father Vasudev decided to give 10000 excellent payaswini cows in charity. When Krsna reached Vrndavan Nanda maharaj gave lakhs of cows in charity. Sri vrndavan is called gostha. Gostha means a place where atleast one crore (10 million) cows reside. (more…)

Serving cows as Sadhana Bhakti

Hare Krsna!

Sadhana bhakti and go seva (service to cows) – Service to cows is an integral part of sadhna. Therefore we see that in past all the ashrams of spiritualist had cow in there ashrams. Serving cows is one of best ways to please Sri Krsna. Sri pada vallabhcharya of tusti marg had said. “There are 3 ways to take shelter of God, sri Krsna. One is to surrender to Krsna and other two are to surrender to scripture Srimad bhagwat and holy mother cow. (more…)

Shingodaka

Hare Krsna!

It is written in smrities (Vedic scriptures) that the glories of all the holy places on surface of earth is less than even 1/16th part of glories of water that has touched the tip of horns of cows. There is process for this. We should sprinkle water with help of Kusha grass and collect the water such sprinkled. Such water is called shingodaka.
