Hare Krsna!
Late king of Kashmir Sri Pratap Singhji was a very religious man and protector of cows and Brahmins. He was strict follower of sanatan dharma, maintainer of citizens and knower of scriptures. Many Brahmins were regularly doing chanting of mantras and various sacrifices at his palace. No one in his kingdom could dare to kill cow or even glance towards her with wrong intentions.
Once the great chivalrous king of Kashmir was going to a certain place along with his ministers and entourage. Someone saw that a cow had come and was sitting on road on which the king was going to pass. Immediately some people went ahead and made the cow to go off the road after making her stand.
Because of this the king’s attention went to his people who moving the cow aside. So when he inquired as to why his men were running around? The king was informed that a cow was sitting in road on which he was about to pass. Now the cow had been moved aside and the road is clean.
When the king heard that because of me, a cow was put into trouble he was deeply hurt. In anger and anguish, he stopped his entourage at the same spot. He immediately called for the men and officers who had removed the cow from the road and told them in a chastising mood, “What an impious deed you have performed. Do you not know that only existence of the kingly order is to protect cows and brahmins. Real humanity is to serve cows and Brahmins. You have made a cow stand up and move apart thereby giving her pain. You have not only given her trouble but also in that way insulted her. This is not humanity but demoniac. Do not repeat this in the future. If anyone does this again, he will be removed from job.”
All were astonished to see the devotion of the king for the cows.
Hope we follow the right etiquette in streets of mumbai and elsewhere too
Nice to remind that only existence of the kingly order is to protect cows and brahmins. Real humanity is to serve cows and Brahmins.
This reminds how Lord is Gobrahmanhitay & as King represents the Lord so they too must follow it.
