Here is a beautiful incident from the scriptures about the glories of Vedic Cow.
Nandini cow says to Maharaj Dilip – Don’t consider me just giver of milk. When I am pleased I can fulfil all your desires. This story also depicts the importance of Holy cow. Once Maharaj Dilip was traversing the forest and he saw Nandini cow being attacked by a lion. Maharaj Dilip went to save the cow and the lion demanded that he also being the citizen should also be fed. Maharaj Dilip offered his own body to lion as food. Maharaj Dilip was unopposed, religious, courageous king. How valuable should he have been? Still Maharaj Dilip did not mind his life being at risk knowing well that it is more important to protect the cow than to protect the king. At that time Nandini cow instructs Maharaj as mentioned above.
