Hare Krsna!
In this world there are three moods in which people protect cows.
- First they protect cows just because they according to their culture should be protected. They protect cows because Cow is sacred entity and it should be protected and not killed.
- Some people give charity to protect cows and they think that is their responsibility that is to give some charity to protect cows.
- Others devotedly try to protect cows as per vedic instruction but lack of knowledge prevents them from fully appreciating the vedic statements about the glory of cows, their greatness and divinity.
This lack of knowledge prevents even sincere one from protecting cows with full respect and gratefulness. They are confused about the cow they see in front of them and the descriptions and glories mentioned in Vedic texts. Even the sincere protectors think the vedic description unrealistic or irrelevant at present time but the reality is the cows are equally glories as they were in past. Only difference is we have to learn how they are glories and also learn the right way to take care of them.
Most of people who are caring for cows are sincere have a question mark on their face about how is she a divine entity and can fulfil all our desires and how is she the ultimate benefactor to the world. I will be speaking about this topic in future posts. They accept cow as divine but do not much practical experience of it.
In coming days we will see many glories of cow, astonishing stories and incidences. We remain blank about how it relates to us or the glories of cow was only a thing of past.
Also another result of this ignorance is we feel it is financially not feasible to maintain cows when they go dry. In fact we should apply our intelligence to find out how it was feasible in past and why it is not feasible now. How can we change the situation?
Another angle at just donating to cows without full knowledge is that there is a subtle chance of we feeling that cows are not so worth or we might get superiority feeling thinking that it is we who are maintaining cows. Actually if we know the full picture it is other way round. If we know full picture we can understand that if cows are cared for and if they are pleased then they do maintain whole world. In fact most of today’s chaotic conditions will automatically go away if Vedic cows are protected.
Charity is not just to be given to cows. As per sastra, in proper daan (donation) the donor has more need to donate than the receiver needs to receive. When charity is done in knowledge of the person to whom you are giving charity, then it is done out of respect, just like only when you know Krsna, devotional service becomes sweet.
The holy Vedic cows (mentioned in post before this) are divine entities with numerous potencies and powers of which we have no access as we don’t know about them and how to access them.
So having full knowledge we should try to protect cows not with mood that we are protecting them but with mood that they are maintaining us or rather our whole sustenance is dependent on them and we should live our life in that fashion by which we will be better off spiritually, emotionally and physically.
In fact as soon as we come to know more and more about cows we will have completely different view towards them.
